Wild weather brings heavy downpours, downed trees

Brooklyn saw heavy downpours to downed trees today as a strong weather system moved through the area.
There were the usual spots of flooding on the Belt Parkway, including the area between Knapp Street and Flatbush Avenue. Water was backed up so badly, it forced drivers to slow down and cause major backups.
Meanwhile, a driver had quite a scare as a tree came crashing down onto his car in Flatbush. It happened at around 7 a.m. on East 35th Street.
Investigators say that the tree limb landed on the front hood and windshield of the car, just inches from where the man was seated. Witnesses say the driver pulled over and was helped out of the vehicle.
The driver was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
