Police: Man sought for rape, attempted rape in Canarsie

Police are looking for a man who allegedly raped one woman and attempted to rape another in Canarsie.

According to police, on Aug. 30, the suspect pulled a 19-year-old woman into the backyard of a home on Rockaway Parkway and raped her. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

On Sept. 7, police say the man walked up behind a 29-year-old woman, forced her into a parking lot on the corner of Conklin Avenue and East 98th Street and tried to rape her. They say she resisted and fled the scene.

Authorities say the suspect covered his face in both incidents, first with a white T-shirt and then with a bandana that had the flag of Grenada on it. They say he is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds.
