Brooklyn residents cope with bitter blast

The bitter blast of cold that hit Brooklyn Monday is expected to stick around for most of the week.
Residents bundled up as they traveled outside in stark contrast to the unseasonably warm December a few weeks ago.
"It makes no sense," said commuter Shariff Harrel. "In December, we were out in basketball shorts."
Forecasts show temperatures topping out in only the upper-20s Tuesday.
Other commuters say such temperatures are typical and appeared mostly unfazed.
With the icy wind chill, experts recommend wearing a scarf or mask to keep the face warm.
The below-freezing temperatures may lead to slippery spots on paved surfaces. Officials say to use caution when walking on sidewalks or driving.
