Major changes will soon take place to allow transgender people a place to pray at the holiest site in Israel.
The Israeli Historical Cabinet says it has decided to open up a mixed-gender prayer space at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
Currently, only men and women must pray separately from one another at the holy site.
The cabinet says its decision is based on the growing diversity of Judaism around the world.
The new prayer space will take 12 to 18 months to complete and will be in the Southern Plaza, in the area known as Robinson's Arch.
