Borough Park Relief Fund helps businesses after explosion
A relief fund is helping business owners begin to bounce back after the deadly explosion in Borough Park four months ago.
On Oct. 3, investigators say a tenant caused an explosion that took down a three-story building. The tenant and another person were killed. The explosion also displaced neighbors and damaged businesses like Panim Yaffot Salon and Spa.
The owner says she had to hire a crew to clean up the fire damage. She also lost many of her products and equipment.
It took nearly $50,000 for her to come back after the explosion. She says she was able to do it with the help of the Borough Park Relief Fund.
The fund was organized by the mayor's office.
The owner says she received $1,000 for repairs.
