Carroll St. tenants say landlord wants them out
Tenants in a Crown Heights building accused their landlord Friday of trying to force them out of their apartments so he can collect higher rent.
The residents of a Carroll Street building say their new landlord, Ephraim Fruchthandler, has been lax with maintenance since taking over in the fall of 2014.
They claim that when people move out, their landlord splits and refurbishes old units to attract people who will pay higher rent. They also allege that the landlord has come to them with unfair offers to buy them out.
The building's management company, Linage Ventures, has not yet responded to a News 12 request for comment.
