Sheepshead Bay residents against halfway house plans
Some residents in Sheepshead Bay are trying to halt plans that would place a halfway house near a school in their neighborhood.
Residents say the Federal Bureau of Prisons wants to put a 100-bed facility for convicted criminals transitioning back into society at the site of a former synagogue on Bragg Street.
They're calling on the federal government to reconsider its plans, in addition to creating petitions and reaching out to elected officials to stop it.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons told News 12 that it could not provide an immediate response regarding the halfway house.
