Man critical after East New York shooting
A gunman robbed and shot another man in East New York Monday morning, according to witnesses.
Emergency officials say the 22-year-old victim is in critical condition at Brookdale Hospital after the 11 a.m. shooting on Shepherd Avenue.
The suspect approached the victim and stole his backpack, according to witnesses. When he tried to get it back, the gunman fired several shots at him.
Police say multiple bullets struck the victim, and the suspect fled in a green car.
Surveillance video taken at the scene shows several good Samaritans rush to the victim's aid and stanch some of the bleeding with towels.
