2 injured, 1 critical after livery driver crashes into light pole on Neptune Avenue and Ocean Parkway in Coney Island

Two people were injured after a livery cab crashed into a traffic light knocking it down in Coney Island Tuesday.



It happened on Neptune Avenue and Ocean Parkway around 6 a.m., according to police.



Witnesses described the crash as sounding like an explosion.



The driver of the black cab can be see on surveillance video driving at a high rate of speed before losing control and crashing into the light pole. 



They say the driver of the cab was transported to Lutheran Hospital in critical condition.



Police say a woman who was a passenger inside the car was also transported to the hospital in stable condition.



Police closed off the area Tuesday as crews worked to repair the light. 



Police did not say if charges were going to be filed against the driver.
