New mural adds color to Atlantic Ave. Gateway
The walk to and from Brooklyn Bridge Park is now a bit more colorful thanks to a new bright and fun mural.
The mural titled "Into the Wild" is located right under the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, in an area known as the Atlantic Avenue Gateway.
The mural is part of the Department of Transportation's Arterventions program. The goal of the mural is to brighten up the space between Brooklyn Bridge Park and the shopping along Atlantic Avenue.
The Atlantic Avenue Business Improvement District, Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Department of Transportation celebrated the completion of "Into the Wild" with a ribbon-cutting.
Mural artist Nelson Rivas says it's an honor to have his work displayed. Rivera was picked from a pool of 28 applicants to design and paint the mural.
