Mourners gather for Orlando vigil at NYC landmark
Mourners attended a vigil at the iconic Stonewall Inn in Manhattan's Greenwich Village Monday to honor the victims of a weekend terror attack at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
Visitors to the somber ceremony placed flowers, shed tears and came together in a show of solidarity with the victims. Police say at least 49 people were killed and at least 50 more injured when a gunman attacked Pulse, a gay nightclub, with an assault rifle and a handgun.
The Stonewall Inn is a historic landmark for the gay rights movement.
The NYPD has increased patrols by deploying an additional 500 anti-terrorism officers across the city in the wake of the attack.
Authorities are calling the Orlando attack the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
