Officials: Sunset Park building fire injures 3
Officials say a fire in Sunset Park destroyed one building and caused the evacuation of another on Tuesday morning.
The fire started inside a home on 23rd Street near the intersection of Fourth Avenue around 8:30 a.m.
The fire chief tells News 12 that the blaze appears to have started in or around a stove area on the top floor in the back of the building, but quickly spread.
He says that all the firefighters had to be removed from the home at one point due to concerns over the stability of the building.
A neighboring building also had to be temporarily evacuated as a safety precaution.
News 12 has learned the three people had minor injuries as a result of the fire.
