Thousands of people celebrated the Fourth of July in Brooklyn at one of the borough's hotspots for summer fun.
The festivities kicked off with some of the world's top eaters scarfing down hot dogs at Coney Island in the annual Nathan's contest, this year celebrating Nathan's 100th anniversary.
Joey Chestnut was victorious in the men's division and Miki Sudo claimed victory in the women's division.
People from as far as Australia visited Coney Island Monday to be a part of America's celebration.
"It's just a party for your eyes and for the senses, it's been amazing," said Belinda Nox.
