2 officers stripped of badges after fatal Williamsburg crash
Officials say two police officers were stripped of their guns and badges Wednesday after a drunken driving crash left one man dead.
According to police, the two officers were drinking at a bar with Nicholas Batka, who was off-duty at the time when he drove drunk and crashed into a group of friends in Williamsburg.
Batka was charged with drunken driving and manslaughter after one person was killed and three others were injured. Investigators say the two officers should have stopped Batka before he got in his vehicle to drive.
All three officers were assigned to Manhattan Transit Squad. Batka was a rookie.
