Police: Gunfire not intended for officers in Brooklyn
Police say gunshots fired Tuesday night were not intended for two NYPD officers on patrol in Brooklyn.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. on E. 23rd Street and Ditmas Avenue when two police officers in uniform were on foot patrol. According to officials, a dark-colored sedan with tinted windows slowly approached the officers. Four men inside the vehicle then proceeded to fire gunshots before fleeing the scene.
Police say surveillance video shows that the gunshots were not intended for the officers. Community leaders gathered with police saying someone who would fire a weapon in the vicinity of officers shows a lack of respect to them and the people who live in the area.
No one was injured, and police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
