A Williamsburg father was arrested for allegedly running away with his 2-year-old child after punching the mother of that child in the face.

The incident occurred at Bedford Gardens.

Neighbors in the apartment complex tell News 12 that the man and woman had been in a relationship for years. They say that the relationship turned sour and the woman kicked him out of their apartment. Residents say that the father came back and took the child away in a stroller. 

Police eventually found the father and child in a nearby building. They say both the mother and child are at a local hospital and expected to be OK.

The father is in custody and charges are pending.
