Caribbean Heritage Month declared in Brooklyn
Borough President Eric Adams has declared Caribbean Heritage Month in Brooklyn for the remainder of June.
Brooklyn is home to the largest population outside of the Caribbean region.
Adams was joined by local elected officials, the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and industry and community members. There was also an East Flatbush-based organization to highlight Caribbean culture called Sesame Flyers International Incorporated, featuring a steel pan player and costumed dancers.
A calendar of events has been created including a film festival, art exhibit, marketplace, concert, symposium and a taste of the Caribbean.
