The medical examiner has confirmed that the body discovered Monday night in the East River near Greenpoint is 21-year-old Steven Middleton.

Middleton was reported missing last week after swimming in the river with friends.

Middleton's friends say they were taking a celebratory swim last Thursday night in honor of his graduation. He was the first one to dive into the water, but was quickly swept away by the strong current.
