Manga Japanese comic artist Sophocles Plokamakis displays work at Ouchi Gallery
A comic artist has gone underground, to the subway system, to create his artwork.
Sophocles Plokamakis is trying to bring more awareness to manga, the Japanese comic art, and currently has his first-ever solo show at the Ouchi Gallery in Downtown Brooklyn.
Plokamakis says he's traveled through every subway stop, capturing commuters going about their business in what he calls their natural element. He says that with 5 million riders a day, he has unlimited characters to draw.
You can see his work at the gallery until Sunday, Aug. 17. He also just published a book called Subway Stories.
