Brighton Beach stores on alert after fur coat robberies
Residents and business owners in Brighton Beach say they are concerned for their safety after two shoplifters recently made off with a pair of expensive fur coats. Surveillance video shows a woman stealing a $7,000 mink coat from Snow Image on Brighton Beach Avenue last week, and the owner says another woman snatched a $3,000 jacket the week before. The owner says he caught the second suspect on tape because he installed more cameras after the first robbery. Neighborhood Association President Pat Singer says the incident is unfortunate, and that businesses need to do as much as they can to avoid burglaries. Police are still searching for the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
