Warrants dismissed during Safe Surrender program
Some Brooklyn residents who had a warrant out for their arrest were able to fill out paperwork, appear before a judge and get their case dismissed today thanks to the Safe Surrender program.
Many of the warrants were for crimes such as drinking in public, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
One participant said that, ?It?s like a fresh start. You do what you have to do and you can start over new.?
Another explained, ?It?s difficult to get a job where they do background checks or fingerprinting. You?re constantly in fear if you?re driving your car that you?re gonna be stopped by a police officer and then put in the system.?
There is another opportunity to take part in Safe Surrender tomorrow from 9 a.m. ? 3 p.m. at 365 Ralph Ave.
