Local leaders appeal to public for info on beating

Local politicians distributed flyers Tuesday asking people to come forward with information about a Bushwick hate crime.
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and other officials gathered at Delancey and Clinton streets in Manhattan to distribute the pamphlets. They hope the distribution of information will lead to the arrest of the people who attacked 37-year-old Mario Vera.
Police say Vera was assaulted in September by three men who were shouting anti-Mexican slurs. The attack left Vera with severe internal injuries.
Anyone with information about the hate crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
