Police: Off-duty cop shoots would-be carjacker
An off-duty NYPD officer shot an armed suspect who tried to force him out of the car in East New York Friday night, police say.
According to authorities, the officer was sitting in a parked Dodge at Warwick Street and Livonia Avenue when 25-year-old Norman Harrison ordered him out, prompting the officer to shoot the man in the shoulder.
Police say Harrison then ran into an apartment at 702 Warwick St., where he hid for about two hours before surrendering. He is now facing robbery charges.
