Bloomberg extends cash incentive program
Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Tuesday that he will extend an anti-poverty program that provides some low-income families with cash incentives.
The program gives families up to $5,000 a year for keeping children in school, having checkups at the doctor and dentist and staying employed.
Families can qualify for $100 for each member who gets a checkup at the dentist every six months. In addition, families can receive $150 a month for keeping their full-time jobs.
Cash incentive services will continue to be provided for families already enrolled in the program, but will be closed to new families.
