Ex-Giant Burress pleads guilty in gun case

(AP) - Former New York Giant Plaxico Burress haspleaded guilty to a lesser charge in the weapons case against himand has agreed to a two-year prison term for accidentally shootinghimself at a Manhattan nightclub. The ex-wide receiver pleaded guilty Thursday morning to onecount of attempted criminal possession of a weapon. Under a pleaagreement, he agreed to a two-year prison sentence and two years ofsupervised release.
Burress was indicted earlier this month on two counts ofcriminal possession of a weapon and one count of recklessendangerment. He faced a minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years ifconvicted at a trial.
Burress' sentencing is set for Sept. 22.
