City evicts tenants from Bushwick building
Tenants of a Bushwick building were evicted Thursday after city officials said the building was illegally converted from industrial to residential.
The city's Department of Buildings says the landlord of 889 Broadway illegally converted the building, which is in an industrial zone, and started renting out 20 apartments.
The Red Cross says it is helping out about 15 of the evicted tenants.
Efforts by News 12 The Bronx to reach the building's landlord were unsuccessful.
