'Cash for Clunkers' sells out nationwide
The nation's "cash for clunkers" program became such a sterling success that lawmakers Friday had to rush to allot $2 billion more for the incentive.
"The response was great. We had people we never saw before - they were out of the market for 18 to 20 years," says Mohammad Ali, a sales manager for Toyota in Bay Ridge.
The government originally funded the program with $1 billion expecting just 250,000 car sales, but Americans quickly tapped that money. The Senate will take up the additional funding next week.
