Brooklyn Councilman Charles Barron, community advocates and residents say security measures for concerts in the borough have been tainted by racism.

Barron says the predominantly black attendees of the Martin Luther King, Jr. concert series at Wingate Field were searched thoroughly before entering the venue, while those predominantly white residents who attended the Seaside Concert Series at Asser Levy Park were not.

Park officials say Wingate Field is an enclosed football stadium, so large bags must be searched. Asser Levy Park is an open-air venue, which requires less intensive searches.

According to Barron, "one city, one set of rules."
