Alternate side parking suspended in some areas
The Department of Transportation will suspend alternate side parking in several Brooklyn neighborhoods beginning July 13.
The suspension is a result of a DOT project to install new signs for the updated, and reduced, street cleaning schedule for parts of Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO and Downtown Brooklyn. DOT officials say the suspension could last between six and eight weeks.
Some residents say the reduced street cleaning will lead to fewer available spots. In other neighborhoods, drivers noticed that cars never moved because they weren't required to.
All other street regulations remain in effect.
