Mourners hold rally to stop violence

Family members and friends gathered at the Pink Houses Sunday to mourn the loss of a Brooklyn man, but also to rally for police action to stop violence in the area.
Mourners and community activists say 23-year-old Elias Ramirez was fatally shot in front of 1304 Loring Ave. Saturday, where a mobile police unit is located. Residents say the police officers stationed in the mobile unit could probably hear the gunshots and should have done more the help prevent the shooting.
Authorities say the incident is under investigation. The city is working to install $500,000 worth of surveillance equipment in the area, police say.
