Giant tree collapses on Bed-Stuy building

A gigantic tree crashed on top of a brownstone in Bedford-Stuyvesant following Thursday's storm, leaving tenants without utility services.
Officials from the Deparmtent of Sanitation and the Deparmtent of Parks say they are not responsible for hauling away the 50-foot tree that now rests atop of the building at 144 Halsey St. because it was privately owned.
One of the tenants at the building says he was told by a city representative that the owner of the property may be responsible for the tree, but in the meantime, the residents of the house will be forced to foot the bill for the removal of the tree.
