Flatbush charter school destroyed by fire

Police say gang members may be responsible for an early morning fire that destroyed a Flatbush charter school Tuesday.
According to school officials, the New Vistas Academy on Glenwood Road was gutted by the flames, which began around 3:45 a.m. Authorities discovered gang-related graffiti on the walls and desks inside the building.
School administrators say they will make plans for students to attend the last three weeks of classes and take finals, which may require the use of a nearby church or other facility.
Some students say the school was the victim of vandalism last year and they suspect a former student who was asked not to return to the school could be responsible for both incidents.
