Suspect in reporter's slaying appears in court
The teen accused of killing radio reporter George Weber appeared in court Friday on homicide charges.
Police say John Kaytis stabbed Weber 50 times in the neck, torso and arms inside his Carroll Gardens home in March.
Kaytis told police the two met after he answered an ad posted on Craigslist asking for someone to move boxes. Kaytis' lawyer says his client is not guilty and that the teen acted in self-defense after Weber gave him drugs.
The judge denied Kaytis' bail request, keeping the teen in custody. Kaytis is due back in court on July 17.
