Local officials blast city's Housing Authority
Local officials are blasting the city's Housing Authority for not using federal funds to hire Fort Greene residents.
The federal government has allocated more than $87 million for renovations at the Ingersoll, Whitman and Farragut houses. A small percentage of that, local officials say, is meant to go toward job growth. Officials say NYCHA has not followed through on that requirement.
"That is what the law requires, but we know all too often that law has not been followed," says Democratic Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries.
