Residents, Community Board 6 at odds over bar
Members of Community Board 6 say they do not want a local bar?s license renewed because the establishment is too noisy, but others argue the claim is blown out of proportion. During the day there's not much of a crowd outside Union Hall in Park Slope. However, some neighbors say once the sun goes down, it's a totally different story. They argue that noise from the bar is keeping them up. Last week, Community Board 6 recommended the New York State Liquor Authority deny Union Hall's liquor license renewal. Some feel the complaints are blown out of proportion. Surveillance video shows a neighbor going inside Union Hall, then calling authorities to report the bar was overcrowded. When fire officials inspected the bar, they found it was not about (over?) capacity. One neighbor tells News 12 Brooklyn that noise from Union Hall is not the problem. He says members of Community Board 6 should focus on livery and taxi cabs that beep their horns at all hours of the night.
