Men jump couple in Prospect Park robbery
Police are looking for a group of men after a violent robbery in Prospect Park ? the second in days in the generally quiet area.
Investigators say a group of men approached a couple around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Garfield Place and Prospect Park West. The suspects hit the man over the head with an object, robbed him and fled on foot. The woman was not injured.
The victim was taken to New York Methodist Hospital, where he was treated for a head laceration.
No arrests have been made in the case. On May 8, a man was stabbed in the stomach in the park. Police were investigating that case as an attempted robbery. While some park patrons say they still feel safe, others are voicing concern over the rise in violence. "You have to be street smart and aware of your surroundings," said Sarah Heard. "But, I mean it's a little scary. It definitely makes me think twice about what time of day I go in the park."
