Protesters booted from Earth Day event
An oil spill was acted out in McCarren Park Saturday as protesters crashed an Earth Day event partly paid for by ExxonMobil.
Protestors say the company was being hypocritical, due to years of ExxonMobil spilling oil into Greenpoint waters. An ExxonMobil representative says the company is trying to be part of the solution, however.
"ExxonMobil takes its environmental responsibility very seriously," says ExxonMobil community liaison Carolina Asirifi.
Protesters continued voicing their message as they were kicked out of the event, saying the company needs to do more to clean up the community.
