Gun violence on the streets of Brownsville sent a child and another person to the hospital Friday afternoon.
Witnesses say the shootout occurred on Belmont and Christopher streets. Authorities say the bullets reached two blocks away and went through a window of a projects building, hitting a 9-year-old girl.
The child was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition.
Many residents in the area say gun violence is becoming all too common.
