The family of a 10-year-old girl who was handcuffed on a school bus by a New York City police officer earlier this month plans to sue.
Imecca Burton said she was on the bus playing with her friends on Jan. 15 when an officer put her in handcuffs to restrain her. According to police, Burton was a danger to other students and the officer restrained her to calm her down.
The girl?s mother, Taneisha Pearson, said that her daughter suffers from attention deficit disorder and dyslexia. She?s outraged by the incident.
?She?s 10 years old. She couldn?t have been that unruly for him to put his knee in her back, push her face into the chair. It?s not good. It?s not good at all,? said Pearson.
The family is currently working with a civil rights lawyer on the lawsuit.
