Fast-food restaurants in Brooklyn and the rest of the city may be forced to start posting calorie information on their items.

The city's Board of Health voted Tuesday to revive a plan that would require fast-food locations to list calorie counts on their menus. The rule takes effect March 31.

A federal judge struck down the proposal in September, saying it didn't apply to enough restaurants and conflicted with federal law. The city rewrote the proposal, which would apply to all restaurants in the city with more than 15 locations.

City officials say the change is necessary and will reduce obesity by letting customers know what they are eating. Opponents of the plan say it will clutter menus and annoy customers who don't want to know the information.
