Department of Transportation reportedly wants to remove ‘love locks’ from Brooklyn Bridge

The Department of Transportation reportedly wants to unlock some expressions of love on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Dozens of so-called "love locks," symbolizing love and memories, have been placed by visitors across the span over the years.
The DOT says there are simply too many padlocks which are creating hazards to the cars below as well as damage to the bridge.
Some residents agree with the DOT's sentiment to remove the locks, while others say there has to be another way to keep those locks as a memorial.
So far, the DOT has reportedly removed more than 5,000 of the locks from the bridge.
