The death of a 3-year-old girl has been ruled a homicide by police.

Authorities responded Wednesday to reports of an unconscious baby at 350 Marcus Garvey Blvd. Takai Marcelle was rushed to Interfaith Medical Center by police, where she was pronounced dead later that night.

Medical examiners have confirmed the girl died of blunt force trauma. Police are still investigating the homicide.

Neighbors say they often heard arguing coming from the residence and that the child lived in an abusive and violent home. The Administration for Children?s Services has taken custody of the girl?s three siblings.
