Troops get holiday sendoff at Brooklyn base
Dozens of soldiers got a holiday sendoff at Brooklyn's Fort Hamilton base Sunday.
More than 40 troops and their families gathered at the base to enjoy food and other activities. The soldiers, from the 1174th Transportation Brigade, will leave for Kuwait in early January.
They will track and transport cargo to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The cargo includes weapons, tanks and other equipment.
A Bedford-Stuyvesant mother and soldier says while she's sad to leave her family, she's been through deployment before. She says she's more than happy to serve her country.
