Affordable housing complex coming to Brooklyn
Habitat for Humanity is building a 41-unit condominium complex in Brooklyn, the group's largest multi-family affordable housing project to date.
Families planning to move into the $14 million development, located on Atlantic Avenue, must contribute at least 300 hours of work, or "sweat equity," into its construction. Homeowners will get a 30-year, zero-percent mortgage, and will be able to sell the homes at market value after 15 years.
The New York State Affordable Housing Corp. contributed funds and other resources to the project.
A move-in date is projected for early 2009.
