Officials: Cops connected to BK steroids investigation

Six NYPD officers are under investigation in a steroids probe after police raided a Bay Ridge pharmacy Monday.
Officials said they seized $8 million worth of anabolic steroids and human growth hormones from Lowen's Pharmacy on Third Avenue. An employee of the mom-and-pop business was also arrested.
According to the NYPD, the six officers improperly used prescriptions to get anabolic steroids for their personal use. The cops could face disciplinary action and drug testing.
"If they're involved, they deserve the same punishment as anybody else," said Lowen's customer Tom Furguiele.
Authorities have not released the identity of the Brooklyn/Staten Island-based doctor who was writing the prescriptions.
In May, investigators said they seized more than $100,000 worth of illegal growth hormones, testosterone and medical records from Lowen's Pharmacy. According to officials, the pharmacy's name came up again during a raid in Florida.
Investigators said as the new probe gets under way, more police officers and possibly professional athletes could be involved.
