A jury found a man on trial for the 2005 murder of an NYPD detective guilty of first-degree murder Thursday.

The jury took less than two hours to reach the decision against 29-year-old Allan Cameron. The trial got under way Monday in Brooklyn with Detective Dillon Stewart's widow testifying against Cameron. She cried openly after the verdict was read.

Patrolmen's Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch said the verdict was bittersweet because justice was served, but Stewart can never be brought back.

Prosecutors argued Cameron shot Stewart during a traffic stop in East Flatbush. They say there were no witnesses who saw Cameron pull the trigger, but their investigation and DNA evidence pointed to him.

Cameron, who faces life in prison, is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 8.

The defense, which asserted Cameron never confessed and that the NYPD led a biased investigation, plans to appeal the guilty verdict.
