Brooklyn homeowners may soon have to pay more for water with the city considering an 18 percent hike.
The Water Board says it's considering the increase because revenue is down $31 million due to delinquent accounts and less usage. At the current rate, officials say revenue could be down by $200 million by the end of the fiscal year.
The board raised rates 11.5 percent last spring, citing similar concerns. If the hike goes into effect, the average family paying about $699 per month would pay $824 each month.
