Security paramount to Brooklyn College officials
Emergencies on campus are something colleges try to avoid, but officials at Brooklyn College are confident about their emergency plan.
The campus is surrounded by iron gates, with a guard stationed at every entrance. Anyone who wishes to enter must show a college ID.
While those measures take care of unwanted intruders, the college also has a plan in case something occurs inside the campus gates. Brooklyn College?s deputy director of safety services says the emergency plan is to notify students, faculty and staff by e-mail if anything happens. The campus also has a PA system to make announcements about what is going on.
Students have mixed feelings about their school?s emergency plan. Some think the plan is fine, while others question it.
Brooklyn College also plans to copy the NYPD and MTA by starting a ?If you See something, say something,? campaign.
