Car arsons spark fear among Park Slope residents
A string of car arsons has some Park Slope residents scared to park their cars in front of their homes.
A Subaru was the latest vehicle to go up in flames last Thursday on 6th Street. Someone had previously set two other cars on fire. Residents say they are troubled by the crimes and by the trash on curbs that may be fueling the problem.
"Even the fire people said there was no smoke and the car caught too fast," resident Michael Cantone says of the latest arson. "They felt it was an accelerant in the garbage."
Since the arsons, more officers have been patrolling the area. Residents also say they're installing their own security cameras near their homes to catch the culprit or culprits.
