BK parking spaces go green for Park(ing) Day
Friday was Park(ing) Day in Brooklyn, which meant parking spaces were turned into temporary green spaces all over the borough and city.
The purpose of the day is to create green space in areas where people might not normally think it was possible, according to a spokesperson from the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives.
All along Myrtle Avenue in Clinton Hill, people removed cars from parking spaces to make way for grass, tables, benches and chairs so they could enjoy temporary parks.
More than 30 cities around the country got involved in Park(ing) Day. More than 25 parks were created in Brooklyn and the city.
